Adventures in Potty Training.

After putting off potty training as long as I absolutely could (my daughter is now 2 1/2), I decided to go ahead and put her in underwear this week. She got up Monday morning and after her daddy fed her breakfast, I got up and changed her out of her last diaper and into "big girl panties". She did remarkably well her first day! Two accidents IN the bathroom (one because I didn't get there in time) and one in the kitchen (after I left for a Bible study and she was home with just Daddy). Tuesday went well too - except for while I was gone to the dentist. She had a couple accidents while my mom was here watching the kids, but after I got home she went in the potty the rest of the day. Wednesday went well although there were a few more accidents than previously. She got up in the morning dry (YAY!) and immediately went to use the potty. She went potty once, then twice, then went to eat breakfast. She went again in her chair, got a clean pair of panties, and then finished eating....only to go again in her chair. She then went back to the potty and went a fifth time that morning. I'm thinking she doesn't know how to empty her bladder, but hopefully this comes with time (does it?). She had a couple more accidents during the day (one while I was at the gym - seems to be a pattern when I'm gone...), but overall has done great! Hopefully she'll catch on a little more so we can once again venture out without having to resort to pullups (which I don't want to do, but might be necessary for a trip to the grocery store). So exciting to be back down to one baby in diapers!!!!

Wedding Fun!

This past Saturday my husband and I went to his nephew's wedding. We ended up taking the kids (which they said was okay) and they had a fun time. Thankfully there was music and a dance floor to entertain them and everyone else!

Quilt Top (Almost) Finished!

Here's a picture of my wonky star quilt top! I'm going to add another black border around the current border after I go to the store tomorrow to get more black fabric. Then it will really be done! I was so excited as this came together! It's my first quilt and I can't wait to see it completed!

Homemade Baby Food!

On Monday, I spent the majority of my day preparing baby food. With my eight month old, I've been using a combination of homemade food and jarred food (when I can find the jarred on sale). She's been eating more and more - I think more than the others ate at one time - and so even the sale prices weren't sounding so good anymore. I decided that I could make the more mixed foods myself. (Which is the one thing I haven't tried before.) So I roasted a large butternut squash, baked eight large sweet potatoes, cooked up some carrots, cooked some brown rice, and then set to work. The squash I pureed alone, as well as some of the sweet potatoes. Then I made a couple mixes. The first one I made used a sweet potato, carrots, corn, brown rice, and pork. The second one used a sweet potato, carrots, corn, brown rice and tomatoes. Most of this stuff was organic that I bought at Ingles! I plan on making one more with corn, green beans and pork. It turned out to be a lot of food - all those ice cube trays are filled and the jars and containers on the bottom are too!

Another Morsbag!

On one of my last trips to Goodwill, I found some vintage upholstery fabric that I couldn't pass up. Since I don't know what else to use it for, I decided to make another morsbag. These are wonderfully sturdy bags and are great to use for anything! I try to take mine to the grocery store, but I don't always remember.

Game Time!

I forgot to mention in my previous post that I also found Apples to Apples while at Goodwill. I have the travel edition, but it's small and doesn't have nearly as many cards. I found the Apple Crate Edition at Goodwill for $3.93! Half the cards are still in the shrink wrap and the ones that are open are still crisp and unused!

More Vintage Sheets!

I went to Goodwill again yesterday! And I can't help but look at the sheets to see what they have! (Thanks a LOT Bethany!!!) Anyway, I did find a few things I just couldn't put back. And I found two pristine 100% cotton white sheets - that I will probably use for backing.

Goodwill Finds!

I went to Goodwill today with my mom while my car's tires were being rotated. I found some neat things!

An old school, vintage Fisher-Price washer/dryer combo with ironing board (although no iron). My kids have been having fun "washing" their clothes this afternoon!

A couple sizes too big pair of jeans for my big girl. (I normally don't buy clothes that far in advance, but these are really cuter than the picture does justice! I just had to get them!)

A jump up thingy for my baby girl....that hopefully she will like. (Don't be fooled by the smile here, it lasted all of two seconds!)

Some wonderful vintage upholstery fabric that I think I'll make into another morsbag.

And my favorite....some blue authentic cowboy boots! I've been wanting a pair of these and there they were in my size and everything!!

Sleeping Positions...

This is how I found my baby in the middle of the night!

I actually laughed out loud....and then stumbled to find my camera and take a picture!

Just comment on this post for a chance to win. U.S. residents only please.

Vintage Bee Blocks

Today I worked on my block for the Vintage Sheet Quilting Bee. I actually made two because I had the time and was enjoying it!

Nothing Cuter.....

Than a naked baby!

An Artist in the Making?

My three and a half year old son loves to draw. And he's gotten pretty good at it (at least I think so for his age). I'm not sure what is normal, but I was quite impressed to find this in his bed one night (he takes the drawing pad to bed and draws until he falls asleep).

A Giant Baby!

While visiting my husband's dad and his wife, my baby found a giant baby doll she had so much fun playing with. Every time we moved her (and the doll would move too) she went to screaming. She would immediately be fine once she had the baby doll in her possession once again. And let me tell you this baby doll was bigger than she is! Here she is playing with the doll on Grandma's lap.

And here she is trying to lick/kiss/bite the baby's face!

Silliness!

My mother-in-law came over and brought my big girl an Easter hat. She took it and put it on the baby, and so I had to take a picture. That led to my big girl wanting her picture taken too.

Of course my son couldn't be left out. He wanted his picture with the hat too!

Wonky Stars!

It's been a few days since I posted. I sewed some wonky stars back on March 31st. And I just sewed one more tonight. I'm now up to nineteen! Only six more to go!
